about

Deep. I'd have to term this release “Deep African House” as the production of Chicago native Jordan Fields is both cultural and very cerebral. Clocking in at about 123 bpm, “African Bells” accomplishes two main things:the bells and drums hypnotizes and captures the full attention of, the listener immediately from the very first moment the record starts and second, it establishes a communal atmosphere that can immediately lock down a dancefloor. If this doesn't take you to the Motherland in some size shape or form, then I don't think you're listening very well. The B side, African Bell Monchan Waide Mix, takes the original track and adds a bit of a more soulful and futuristic vibe by adding a great guitar rhythm. It totally provides an extension and variation to the track without disturbing the groove. If anything, the groove is enhanced and keeps this release in the overall win column. A must have for those who love afrobeat and afrohouse
