about

The latest release from Italian born producer Nico Lahs in the form of the 4 track Visions EP produces some very interesting sonic approaches to the House music sound. Opening track The Right Way (125 BPM) is intense from the start as well as infectious. Very much a peak hour deep house cut that does not let up for the six minute plus duration of the track. Both deep and soulful house DJs should take a good look at including this in their sets.
Futurism (125 BPM) takes an interesting broken beat like approach.. but should not be labeled as broken beat. You can hear that Nico Lahs is influenced by jazz funk via the Herbie Hancock-ike synth work added to the track. One could suggest that this can be termed more as an electro jazz house track. Very different and very good. Futurism indeed.
Mind Frames (129 BPM) is very simple and very cerebral deep house that is what folks used to call an after 3 AM track. It is subtle in sound but intense in the energy that it generates. A bit more on the minimal house side but beautifully constructed. Visions (127 BPM) feels a bit more retro to the roots of NYC deep house. A bit more aggressive in terms of the beats per minute but nonetheless possesses that dreamy, atmospheric sonic environment that makes for a solid deep house classic.
